MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education (Auerbach CAJE) is to promote and support Jewish education for the purpose of developing and enhancing strong and positive Jewish identity, lifelong Jewish learning and commitment to and participation in the Jewish community in the United States, Israel and throughout the world.  Providing vision, expertise and initiative, Auerbach CAJE is the central source for consultation, collaboration, training, programming, advocacy, research, planning, coordination, leadership and resources for professional and lay educators throughout the greater Philadelphia Jewish community.

The Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education (ACAJE) is the central source of Jewish educational endeavors in Greater Philadelphia. Established by the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia in 1987, the Agency provides consultation, guidance, and resources for professional and lay educators in schools, synagogues, camps and youth groups, as well as for other agencies and organizations in the Jewish community. The Agency provides a full range of programs and services which greatly enhance the efforts of educators from across the Jewish denominational spectrum, teaching students of all ages from preschool through adult. ACAJE consultants are on the cutting edge of Jewish education, focusing on the critical issues of the day which impact the future identity and continuity of the Jewish people.

The primary focus of the Agency is to improve the quality of supplementary school (after-school religious education) and early childhood experiences. In Philadelphia, over 85% of school-age children who are being Jewishly educated are attending supplementary school programs. Without a quality and meaningful Jewish education, these children are "at-risk" Jewishly. At ACAJE, we have the opportunity to make a real difference in the Philadelphia Jewish community at large, by making a strong, positive impact on the supplementary school experience. ACAJE consultants provide seminars, programs, resources and one-on-one consultations to school directors, teachers and lay leaders on a myriad of topics on a continual basis. Many of these programs are drawing national and international attention because of their unique take on educational issues. We work to make a difference in our children's Jewish lives, so that their Jewish educational experience is a positive experience, promoting a positive Jewish identity. We are also proud to have expanded our Agency focus and currently service a large number of children who have special needs.

The Auerbach Central Agency for Jewish Education is a constituent of the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia.
