Novice Teacher

The Novice Teacher Program

Description:
To assist teachers who have taught three years or less, ACAJE has a Novice Teacher Institute and a Novice Teacher Support Group. The Novice Teacher Institute (usually scheduled for three days during the last week of August) offers workshops that focus on school climate and classroom culture, pedagogic strategies and techniques, as well as meaningful approaches to content.

The Novice Teacher Support Group is a follow-up to the Novice Teacher Institute. Eight workshops are offered curing the course of the year. They cover many topics, which are identified by the group. After the workshop participants are encourage to discuss classroom situations for which they seek advice. A stipend of $150 and credit toward licensure is given for full participation.
